Similarities [updated per US Season 1]

Name Analysis:

  • Tim rhymes with Jim! Jim rhymes with Tim! What a concept! I bet the writers had a hard time with that one.*
  • Both their last names have some kind of famous reference, as their managers have previously brought up - to the Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales” (UK) and television’s “Fat Albert” (US).
  • Both seem to bring in a decent amount of revenue into their respective paper-distributing companies.

Tim and Jim are both pretty cool, average guys. They’re nice. They’re funny. They can be mean, but rarely are (except to Gareth and Dwight). But if we had to tally up the score (as is the purpose of this site), this is how it would go:

Tim indicated an interest in returning to university to study Psychology 0 he had studied for a year previously. As of US episode 216 of the US version, we have no idea if Jim ever attended college (but still seems to be a pretty sharp guy). Tim likes ballet, loves the novels of Proust, the works of Alan Delon; so far we we know Jim likes… Pam. Jim, coming in at 6′3″ (1.91m) beats out Tim’s 1.73m (5′8″) height. He’s also shown to be quite the basketball player and stands eye-to-eye with Roy.

*[UPDATE] it’s be revealed that Jim Halpert is actually named after James Halpert, a childhood friend of exec producer Greg Daniels.
